Hey Beautiful People,
How’s your fierce living going?
I was just in the Lone Star State to celebrate my friend Kelsey’s wedding day. It was filled with tears, reunion hugs, and dancing. Not to mention the sweet ride Mazda provided.
I mean, have I ever looked this fierce in a picture? Don’t answer that.
The Mazda looked so good that we started an assembly line of models to pose beside it. Just kidding, that’s the homie Omni. She looks fresh, right?
Jokes aside, this 2017 Mazda CX-9 Signature AWD didn’t just reunite me with my ice cream sundae crew (more on that later), it got me from Austin, to Kyle, to Gruene, and even San Antonio, TX. All on a single tank of gas. Yes, boo, one tank of gas. Those 23 MPG or 4.3 gallons per 100 miles were really put the test, and boy, did they deliver.
The day after the wedding, the bride/homie Kelsey wanted to go to brunch in Gruene, TX, and that place is full of surprises.
With punny names like Gruene Eggs and Ham, Gruene with Envy Boutique, and the Gruene Olive Tasting Room, Gruene told us that they meant business when it came to making a name for themselves. And Gruene, TX, you didn’t disappoint.
The Pickle Place, where they sell the obvious combination of antiques and pickles, offers a single kind of pickle that’s sweet, crunchy, and spicy all in one bite that you really don’t need to ever eat a different kind of pickle again. Don’t believe them? Try a sample or 5. Not in Gruene? Don’t worry, they ship.
The local bar welcomes cowboys and offers Lonestar beer because TEXAS. I also got to hang out with the tipsy gypsy at her namesake store, the Tipsy Gipsy. She seemed to enjoy my company.
The Gruene Antique Co didn’t disappoint. They offered everything you never knew you needed, including the hairpin holder. If only someone had told us there was a place for them! Thank you to Gruene, TX for clearing that up for us.
When in TX, I learned that you must visit Austin’s Hoover’s Cooking, a true Southern-style restaurant complete with sweet tea, cobblers of all kinds, and of course, fried okra.
I even got to squeeze in a short visit to San Antonio to hang out with my brother Ralph.
But the cherry on top? Reuniting with the ice cream sundae: Ashley, Omni, and Kelsey.
We met in high school in 2003, and after high school each moved away to start new lives. Even so, we kept in touch and always made sure to stay friends and support each other throughout. This picture was taken in 2009 when we were all in El Paso for the holidays.
And thanks to Mazda, we got to take this picture again at Kelsey’s wedding.
Congratulations to Kelsey and Steven on a lifetime together! As they say in Gruene, TX, AWWWW YISSS! #DriveMazda
